An Ode to the Sprocket Hole

I kludged together an adapter to fit 35mm film canisters in my Pentax 67, here are the results! There's more after the break, too.

All of these are on very expired Superia 400, and I reckon that I agitated a little too much during development, leading to the ghosting from the sprocket holes.

Hopefully sometime soon, I'll make a post about how to hack up a couple of empty 120 spools to make an adapter for 135.

Sprocket holes are a wonderful thing. They were never intended to be part of the image, just there to facilitate film transport. Yet when caught in the image, they have a presence all of their own.

So long as film exists, sprocket holes will never go the way of the dinosaur. I pray that they will not one day only exist as a hipsteresque option in the menu of an iPhone app.
